On the 19th & 20th of May, The Big Three Aikido Course took place at Waveney
Leisure Centre in Lowestoft. The Big Three course has been running for three
years and attracts some of the most renown Aikido teachers in England, Mr.
Hayden Foster 7th Dan, Mr. William Smith 6th Dan, and Mr. Thomas Moss, 5th
Dan. Unfortunately Mr. Foster, was at that time suffering with a very serious
illness so could not teach. Mr. Frank Burlingham 4th Dan stepped in to take
his place.
Mr. Moss taught aspects of the Jo, in his usual relaxed manor and demonstrated
the art of Bokken taking with brilliance.
Mr. Burlingham, instructed
Kaitenage from all forms attacks proving that all defenses usually come down to katatori ai-hanmi, the technical aspects of the art are to get them
into that position from any attack.
Next, Mr. Smith, stunned the
audience with his bokken and tanto work explaining how the techniques developed from these weapons.

The event drew over 150 Aikido practitioners plus family to the town of
Lowestoft. All had an enjoyable weekend.
Anyone visiting the area from the USA and Europe would be more than welcome
to practice or visit with us.
