Big 3 for 2002

Last weekend, the Big
Three Aikido Course took place at Waveney Sports Centre, hosted by
Broadland aikido Club.

The course celebrated Frank Burlingham
4th Dan’s 30th year in aikido and featured 5 of the top aikido teachers
in Britain and North America. The teachers were Haydn Foster 7th Dan,
William Smith 6th Dan, Tom Moss 5th Dan as well as Osama O'Bata 6th Dan
from Toronto and Htun Han 3rd Dan, who no longer practices but was the
original teacher who started Aikido in this area over 30 years ago. At
the conclusion of the course, it was announced that a special award was
to be presented. Tom Moss was awarded his 6th Dan from Haydn Foster,
Bill Smith and Ken Cottier. Haydn Foster commented that this was the
first time anything like this has happened in the UK to his knowledge.
The course attracted 140 + on both days and students traveled from all
over the UK, one even arriving from Singapore to train.
Mr. Trevor Ellis 1st Dan, formally
a resident of Lowestoft who now lives and works in Singapore returned
specially for this exciting Weekend course.
