It doesn't seem all that long ago that
Frank was waiting for a donor heart. I remember many of us participated
in fund raising to help he and his family get through this whole thing.
We were all so very happy to be of service. We were all so very relieved
that he survived that ordeal.
Frank Knapp was an excellent Aikidoka and
instructor. He had been an instrumental influence on many of us. I feel
very fortunate to have crossed paths with him. In my teenaged years, he
helped keep me on the straight and narrow, and encouraged my Aikido
training. He and friend Stuart Gold toughened us up, for dedicated
training. Frank was not only an accomplished Aikido instructor, but I
have it on good authority from many of the police officers that he
trained, that he was an expert police instructor. Most of the law
enforcement officers in Cook County have trained under Frank and/or know
of his excellent reputation.
Jim and I will miss our friend Frank,
whom many of his close friends would also lovingly and respectfully
refer to him as "Kuma-san" or Mr. Bear. Our
heartfelt condolences to Sandy and his daughters. Our support and
availability will be always there for her whenever she needs us.
Please join us in our condolences and support. Thank you. |
