Katatetori
Kokyunage - (Hiji)
(Variation #6b)
From a different angle, C. Matrasko
enters the attack by striking the attacker, stepping into his
area, and redirecting him using irimi. The strike is forces him
off-center and he turns away. The movement continues using the
attacker's own arm against him to redirect his own movement to
the ground. When her body gets close to the attacker's center, the
nage drops of her own one-point and slides forward. A pathway is
opened for the nage to redirect the uke's body downwards.
As usual, in Aikido
practice - physical strength and speed is not a factor in effective
technique.
Kokyunage is a movement based on the
momentum
and direction of the attacker. The idea is to keep yourself and your
attacker moving in a forward direction.

The beauty of Aikido is that you can vary moves,
just as long as you keep within the Aikido principles of redirection and adjustment.
