Kokyunage (Variation #2)
Below, Matthew O'Connor is being attacked by a
hand grab (katatetori). He chooses to take the outside approach and uses a tenkan maneuver
to deal with James. He leads the attacker around him, then swings his center and attacks
James' movement using an irimi entrance to keep him off balance. Matt drops his center and
uses his own circular movement with James' momentum --- to throw him.
Kokyunage is a movement based on the
and direction of the attacker.

Notice that in this technique, that Matt starts
out with tenkan, then uses an irimi approach to take James off balance and redirect him.
