Katatetori
Kokyunage (Variation #4a)
C. Matrasko enters the
attack by stepping into the assailant's area, continuing the motion of
the attacker by turning in a clockwise direction. In the same
movement, she strikes his face, drawing his balance off center. The
movement continues with a dropping of her own one-point when her
body gets close to the attacker's center. As a result of the joining
of the movements - nage drops and the uke must follow being drawn into
the motion.
As usual, in Aikido
practice - physical strength and speed is not a factor in effective
technique.
Kokyunage is a movement based on the
momentum
and direction of the attacker. The idea is to keep yourself and your
attacker moving in a forward direction.

The beauty of Aikido is that you can vary moves,
just as long as you keep within the Aikido principles of redirection and adjustment.
