Katatetori
Kokyunage (Variation #7b)
Below, C. Matrasko is being attacked
on her left hand (katatetori). She chooses to take the outside approach to the
attack and uses a tenkan movement. The resulting circular movement
brings the attacker slightly off balance. A reversal in
direction, and an irimi entrance using palm strike to her
attacker's face causes him further imbalance. She attacks his
balance/center by using the irimi approach to enter his area by
stepping under his arm - and dropping her arm in sword striking
movement - throwing him by using the momentum of the attack.
Kokyunage is a movement based on the
momentum
and direction of the attacker. The idea is to keep yourself and your
attacker moving in a forward direction.
