Munetsuki Koshinage
Variation #1

Munetsuki Koshinage is a defense against a punch to the abdomen or center of the body implementing the hip and momentum as a way of taking the balance from the attacker. The punch is redirected using a tenkan (pivoting the body), redirecting back to the attacker (as in Kotegaishi), but the hip is introduced into the uke's center of balance - thus taking most of the control from uke.

With good timing, bodywork and footwork, this can be a formidable technique to use.

Please be patient. Because of its animated content -  the graphic below will take time to download through your browser.
