Aikido
Breakfalls
Aikido breakfalls imitate the traditional Judo and Jujitsu
breakfalls in practice and exercise.
Breakfalls are usually done when the throw is performed too
low or when the throw is too high in altitude to do for a normal somersault ukemi (forward
and backward) safely.
Other times it may be necessary to breakfall when the throw
is very sudden or with too much heavy momentum.
