Aikido Promotion Tests

Testing for ranks under Shodan will be done locally here, by myself. All rank Shodan and above will be tested by a panel of Yudanshakai of Yondan (4th Dan or higher) according to Aikido Schools of Ueshiba requirements.

Rank is certified and issued through Shihan Mitsugi Saotome, Aikido Schools of Ueshiba (AKA ASU), directly affiliated with World Aikido Headquarters, in Tokyo, Japan.

For promotion testing eligibility, each student must me a member of ASU in good standing. The membership fee at this writing is $25.00 per year for those of no rank to Ikkyu (1st Kyu). The test fee at this writing for rank under Shodan (1st degree black belt) is $50.00. Monthly Aikido monthly fees and ASU annual dues are to be paid up and prompt or no exam will be given.

Proper accumulation of class attendence hours must be fulfilled to be considered for testing. Attendence is taken. Each student is responsible for marking in their own hours in the log book. For each test, there are various required hours that must be accumulated between tests.

Please note: It is my policy not to press students to rush for promotion, but to strive for perfection in their practice, character and attitude as a priority.

Test Requirements according to the Aikido Schools of Ueshiba federation (ASU) are listed on this web page:
